Smooth onboarding, slight learning curve

Getting set up with GitHub was surprisingly smooth—I had my first repo up and running in about 10 minutes. The onboarding guides were clear enough that I didn’t feel lost, though some of the more advanced features took a bit to wrap my head around.

Easier Collaboration on Code

Had a hard time keeping track of code changes across multiple collaborators, but GitHub's pull request system made reviewing and merging code way smoother for our small team.

Great PR reviews, clunky issues

The pull request review feature is exactly what we needed to streamline our code reviews and catch issues early. However, I wish the issue tracking was a bit more intuitive—sometimes it feels cluttered and hard to prioritize tasks quickly.

Good value for collaboration

I find GitHub to be a solid investment, especially for the price. The free tier is generous enough for small projects, but once you need advanced features like private repositories or team management, the costs start to add up. That said, the productivity boost and collaboration tools more than justify the expense in my experience. It’s definitely worth paying for if you’re working on anything beyond hobby-level coding.

Steady improvements over time

Started using GitHub about eight years ago, and it's definitely come a long way since then. The interface has improved a lot, and features like Actions and improved code review tools have made collaboration smoother. It’s become an essential part of my workflow, even if sometimes the pricing for private repos can be a bit steep.

Eased code management headaches

Our small dev team was constantly losing track of code changes and running into merge conflicts. GitHub made it way easier to manage branches and review pull requests, which saved us a lot of headaches and kept everyone on the same page.
