Reliable and improving over time
Started using Power BI around five years ago and it’s come a long way since then. The interface has become much more user-friendly and the ability to connect to so many different data sources makes it a solid tool for dashboards and reporting. I appreciate how often updates bring new features that actually improve workflow rather than just flashy add-ons. That said, sometimes the performance can lag when working with super large datasets, which can be frustrating.

Mixed feelings on adoption
Our team of about 10 started using Power BI last year. Getting everyone comfortable with it was a slow process, and while some really took to it for building reports, others found it clunky and preferred simpler tools. Collaboration improved a bit but wasn’t seamless across all departments.

Mixed feelings on setup
Getting Power BI up and running was kinda a mixed bag for me. The initial setup was quick enough, but figuring out some of the more advanced features took way longer than I expected and the onboarding materials weren’t super clear. Still, once I got past the learning curve, it started to make more sense.

Frustrating and slow experience
Honestly, I tried Power BI hoping it’d make data stuff easier, but it just felt super clunky and confusing. The interface isn’t very intuitive and I kept hitting walls trying to get simple reports done. Also, it’s crazy slow sometimes which just kills the flow. Definitely not what I was expecting for the price.

Helped clean up reports

Better fit for Microsoft environments
I switched from Tableau to Power BI mainly because of the tighter integration with Microsoft products in our workflow, and honestly, it’s made a noticeable difference in productivity. Power BI’s interface felt more intuitive to me, especially when building reports quickly without needing deep technical expertise. I did try Looker briefly, but Power BI’s pricing and community support won me over. The only downside is that it can get a bit clunky with very large data sets, but overall it strikes a good balance between functionality and ease of use.
