Mixed feelings on adoption

Our team of about 8 started using Tenable last year, but getting everyone fully on board was a bit of a struggle since some found the interface confusing. Collaboration improved once a few of us got the hang of it, though overall adoption feels uneven.

Helped organize alerts, but noisy

We were drowning in constant vulnerability alerts that made it impossible to prioritize real risks until Tenable helped us at least organize and categorize them better. It did catch many of the basic issues on our network, which was a relief. However, it missed a lot of deeper configuration problems and false positives were frustrating, so we still had to manually verify everything.

Setup was a mixed experience

The initial setup was a bit confusing and took longer than I expected, especially getting all the integrations sorted out. However, once it was up and running, the onboarding materials helped clear things up. Definitely a mixed bag where the learning curve slowed me down, but it didn’t feel impossible to get going.

Not worth the high price

The pricing on Tenable felt way out of line for what I actually got. For the cost, I expected a lot more in terms of features and ease of use, but it ended up feeling clunky and limited. It’s hard to justify the expense when there are other tools offering similar capabilities for less money. Unless your budget is huge, the return on investment just isn’t there in my experience.

Solid but could be smoother

Tenable does a decent job at vulnerability scanning, but I found it a bit clunky compared to Qualys, which I used before. The reporting is thorough, but the interface feels outdated and sometimes slow, which was frustrating during busy days. I also checked out Rapid7 briefly, but Tenable’s plugin updates seemed more regular, so I stuck with it despite some annoyances. Overall, it works fine for what we need, but there’s definitely room for improvement in usability.

Solid but could improve

Tried Qualys and Rapid7 before, but Tenable stood out with its detailed vulnerability insights. That said, the interface can be a bit clunky and sometimes slow, which was frustrating compared to the others.

Smooth and straightforward setup

Getting Tenable set up was surprisingly smooth — I had it running within a couple hours, which was faster than I expected given some of the other tools I've tried. The onboarding docs were clear and helped me avoid some common pitfalls, though I did have to poke around a bit to fully understand certain configurations. There's a bit of a learning curve when it comes to customizing scans, but overall, the process felt manageable and straightforward. Definitely glad the initial setup didn't drag on forever like other platforms I've dealt with.

Mixed setup experience

Getting started with Tenable was a bit of a mixed bag. The initial onboarding was straightforward and I had it up and running in about an hour, but the learning curve to really get comfortable with the interface and deeper features was steeper than I expected.

Good scans, clunky reports

The vulnerability scanning feature works well and catches a lot of common issues, which saved us some headaches. However, the reporting tool feels clunky and isn’t very intuitive, making it harder to share insights with the team quickly.

Decent but could improve

Tried Qualys and Rapid7 before, but Tenable felt a bit more intuitive for scanning. That said, the reporting is kinda clunky and sometimes feels slow compared to the others.
