Heatmaps and recordings shine
The heatmaps are exactly what we needed to understand where users are clicking and how they're navigating the site, which has helped us prioritize design tweaks. I also really like the session recordings; watching real user sessions gave me insights that analytics alone just can’t provide. That said, the funnel analysis feels a bit clunky and could use a smoother setup process. Overall, it’s been a solid tool for improving user experience.

Quick and Smooth Setup
Setting up Hotjar was surprisingly straightforward—I had it running on my site within about 15 minutes. The onboarding guides were clear and helped me avoid some common pitfalls I’ve had with other tools. There was a slight learning curve figuring out how to best analyze the heatmaps, but overall the process felt smooth and not overwhelming. Only complaint is the initial email verification took a bit longer than I expected.

Quick and smooth setup
Setup was surprisingly quick, had it tracking in about 15 minutes. The onboarding tutorials made things easy to understand, though I had to fiddle a bit with the tag manager integration.

Features getting worse over time
Started using this over 4 years ago and honestly, it feels like Hotjar has gone downhill. Features that used to work well are buggy now, and their support has become super slow. Kinda frustrating to pay for something that just doesn’t keep up anymore.

Clear heatmaps and feedback
Switched from Crazy Egg and FullStory, and Hotjar stood out because of its straightforward setup and clearer heatmaps. It’s not perfect, but the user feedback tools help nail down issues better for our team.

Great for team insights
Our team of eight started using Hotjar to better understand user behavior, and once the designers and developers saw the heatmaps, adoption really took off. Collaboration improved since everyone could see exactly where users were struggling, though setting up some of the funnels was a bit confusing at first.

Worth the investment for insights
Hotjar definitely feels like a solid investment for the insights it provides. The pricing might seem a bit steep if you’re just starting out, but once you get the hang of using the heatmaps and session recordings, the return in understanding user behavior is clear. For small to mid-sized teams, it offers great value without needing a huge budget, and the improvements we made based on the data have more than justified the cost. Overall, it’s worth the spend if you’re serious about optimizing your site.

Helps with user insights
Hotjar’s been super helpful for figuring out where people get stuck on my site. The heatmaps are pretty spot on, though sometimes the recordings take a bit to load. Overall, it’s been a nice tool to have around.

Love the heatmaps
The heatmaps give a really clear picture of where users click, which helped us tweak our design easily. Though the session recordings sometimes lag a bit, they're still super useful for spotting issues.

Quick and straightforward setup
Getting Hotjar up and running was surprisingly quick for me—took about 20 minutes from signing up to having it tracking on my site. The onboarding guides were clear and helped me avoid the usual guesswork, although I did have to poke around a bit to figure out some of the more advanced features. Overall, the learning curve wasn’t steep, and I appreciated how straightforward the setup was without any frustrating hiccups. Definitely a smooth experience compared to other tools I've tried.
