Works okay, could improve

Hotjar is alright for getting a quick look at how people use my site, but sometimes it feels a bit clunky and the data isn’t always super reliable. It’s good enough for basic stuff, but don’t expect it to be perfect or super detailed.

Great for team insights

Our team of eight started using Hotjar to get better insight into how users interact with our product. Getting everyone on board took a bit of time since some preferred more traditional analytics tools, but once we saw the heatmaps and session recordings, the shift was almost unanimous. It’s helped spark more collaborative discussions during meetings because we can actually point to specific user behaviors instead of guessing. The only downside is that it can slow down page load times a bit, which some of our testers noticed.

Setup was a mixed bag

The onboarding was clear enough, but the actual setup took longer than I expected with some trial and error to get everything tracking right. Definitely not the smoothest start, but once it was up, it worked fine.

Good tool but some hiccups

Been with Hotjar for about 3 years now and while it’s improved in some ways, the recent updates kinda slowed things down for me. The heatmaps still work well and help me understand user behavior, but the interface feels less intuitive than before, which is a bit frustrating. Also, the session recordings sometimes lag, making it tough to analyze smoothly.

Helpful insights for UX tweaks

Hotjar is a pretty handy tool for figuring out where folks click and how they scroll on my site. The heatmaps are super clear and help me see what’s working and what’s not. Sometimes the session recordings take a bit to load, but overall it’s helped me tweak stuff that actually improved user experience. Definitely worth checking out if you wanna get inside users’ heads a bit more.

Solved Signup Dropoff Mystery

Quick and straightforward setup

Not worth the high cost

Honestly, Hotjar feels way overpriced for what it offers. The heatmaps and session recordings are okay, but when you factor in the monthly fee, it just doesn't give me enough ROI to justify the cost. For a small business like mine, there are cheaper tools that do almost the same job without burning a hole in my budget. Also, the pricing tiers are confusing and I ended up paying for features I barely use.
