Simple and effective screen recorder

I tried Loom and OBS Studio before settling on Screencastify, mostly because it strikes a nice balance between ease of use and decent editing features. Loom was straightforward but felt a bit limited when it came to trimming and exporting options, while OBS was powerful but way too complicated for quick, everyday recordings. Screencastify’s browser integration makes it super convenient for quick captures, and the built-in editor saves me from having to use separate software. The only downside is that longer videos sometimes take a while to process, but overall it fits my needs well.

Used to be great, now frustrating

Been with them since 2017 and honestly, it’s been downhill for me. What started as a simple, reliable tool has become frustrating with constant glitches and a confusing pricing model that feels like a cash grab. The latest updates made the interface clunky and slower, which really slows me down when I’m trying to get work done. Wish they’d fix the bugs and stop trying to nickel-and-dime users with unnecessary upsells.

Good value for small teams

The pricing felt a bit steep at first, but after using Screencastify regularly, it really pays for itself. The ease of use and time saved when creating tutorials makes it a solid value, especially for small teams or educators who need quick screen recordings without hassle.

Useful but flawed over time

Started using this about three years ago and it’s come a long way, but I still run into glitches with video exports and the free version’s limits get annoying fast.

Quick and Easy Setup

Getting Screencastify up and running was surprisingly smooth. The onboarding guided me through the basics quickly, and I had it recording in just a few minutes without any hiccups. There wasn’t much of a learning curve, which made the whole setup painless.

Saved me tons of time

I was struggling to quickly share step-by-step tutorials with my remote team without wasting hours editing videos. Screencastify made it super easy to record my screen and voice in one take, and the automatic saving to Google Drive saved me from losing files. It’s not perfect—the occasional glitch when switching tabs is annoying—but overall it really cut down my prep time.

Decent but mixed feelings

Our team of about 10 started using Screencastify because the manager wanted a quick way to share tutorials, but getting everyone to actually use it was kinda slow. Some folks liked how easy it was to record, but others complained about the occasional glitches and limited editing features.

Easy and reliable screencasting

I use Screencastify a lot for quick video tutorials and it’s honestly super easy to get the hang of. Sometimes the uploads take a bit longer than expected, but overall it’s solid and does exactly what I need. Would def recommend if you want something simple without all the fuss.

Decent but needs polish

Started using Screencastify about three years ago for recording tutorials and quick demos. Over time, they've added some handy features, but the app still feels a bit clunky and sometimes glitches during longer recordings. The cloud integration is convenient, but I’ve had issues with export limits and occasional lag that can be frustrating. Overall, it does the job but hasn't improved as much as I hoped given its popularity.

Quick and Smooth Setup

Getting Screencastify up and running was surprisingly straightforward. The extension installed quickly, and the onboarding walked me through the basics without feeling overwhelming. It only took a few minutes before I was recording my first video, which was a relief since I wasn’t sure how complicated it might be. Overall, the learning curve was gentle and I didn’t have to dig through a bunch of tutorials to figure things out.
